Serious MVA With Extrication on Halloween NIght

At 02:28 hour’s Company 9, Squad 3, & Squad 7 were alerted for a serious MVA with entrapment. Captain 3 arrived on scene finding a single vehicle into a light pole with heavy front end damage and the driver trapped inside.

Engine 91 arrived on scene and started to stabilize the vehicle and deployed the bumper line for extraction. Squad 3 went to work on removing the driver’s door and roof from the vehicle. The Maryland State Police helicopter was requested for the patient and was landed on north bound 235. The landing zone was covered by Engine's 93 and Engine 33. Squad 7 assisted Squad 3's crew. The patient was removed from the vehicle at 02:44 hours and went straight into the awaiting ambulance to be evaluated further by ems and taken to the landing sight just down the street in front of the Toyota dealership. MSP Trooper 6 arrived at this time as well. Trooper 6 took off at 03:16 hours to an area trauma center.

Squad 3 remained on scene for an additional hour for scene lighting. Maryland State Highway was requested to the scene to inspect the light pole that was struck as well as the crosswalk sign that was taken out by the vehicle.
