September 9, 2024

Early Monday morning, multiple fire departments and emergency services were dispatched to a working residential fire at 47758 Sunset Manor Lane, St. Inigoes, MD. The alarm was dispatched at 5:29 a.m. when a Naval District Washington (NDW) Police Officer discovered the blaze and notified NDW Dispatch, who promptly contacted the St. Mary’s County 911 Center.

Firefighters from Bay District Stations 3 and 9, Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, NDW Webster Field, Second District Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department, Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department, and several local EMS units arrived to find the single-story home, which had a basement, fully engulfed in flames. The fire had already spread throughout the structure and compromised the roof, prompting the crews to declare a defensive operation upon arrival.

Emergency personnel worked tirelessly for over three hours to contain and extinguish the fire. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is actively investigating the cause of the fire.
