Pedestrian Struck in Lexington Park
By Bay District Volunteers
March 12, 2024
On Monday, March 11, 2024, at 10:39 a.m., Bay District Station 3 and surrounding EMS resources responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Great Mills Road and North Shangri-La Drive in Lexington Park.
Upon arrival, they discovered a victim lying in the roadway, having been struck by a vehicle. Despite the severity of the incident, the victim remained conscious, alert, and breathing, albeit experiencing severe pain.
In light of the victim's condition, a helicopter was urgently requested to land nearby to facilitate rapid transportation to a trauma center.
The vehicle involved in the collision, as well as its operator, remained at the scene. The operator cooperated with authorities and underwent evaluation for injuries. It was reported that the operator signed a care refusal form on-site.
Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7 swiftly landed nearby and transported the pedestrian to an area trauma center for urgent medical attention.
Our thoughts are with the affected individual and their loved ones during this challenging time. We extend our sincere gratitude to the swift response and professionalism demonstrated by all emergency personnel involved.
