December 1, 2023

On Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11:27 a.m., Station 9 and surrounding EMS companies dispatched to the intersection of Wildewood Parkway and White Oak Parkway in California, responding to a reported motor vehicle collision with unknown injuries.

Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered a single vehicle off the roadway, having collided with a tree. The vehicle's elderly male operator was found in distress, displaying signs of medical emergencies.

Swiftly, local law enforcement removed the operator from the vehicle, and the situation was further stabilized by the intervention of an off-duty Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) who had responded to the scene. The off-duty EMT administered preliminary care until the arrival of additional First Responders.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, a helicopter was requested to land at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown to facilitate prompt transport for the patient's injuries.

The U.S. Park Police Eagle 1 helicopter landed at the hospital, where the patient was efficiently transferred to an area trauma center for advanced medical attention.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all the first responders and emergency personnel involved for their swift and coordinated efforts in responding to this incident. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
