War Wagon Rides Again - Engine-32 is placed in service

Finally, after a significant amount of hard work by the members of Company 3, and an excellent job done by First Due Apparatus Solutions getting all of our tool mounting done, the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department is happy to announce and place in service the new Engine 32. This is a first line apparatus that will run the majority of 1st calls-out and is one of the busiest Engine Companies in St. Mary's County. As a carry over of the last two Fire Engine we have also named this Engine the "War Wagon", this being the third incarnation of the original and it appears that the name suits after running its first fire just outside its first week of service.

Once E-32 arrived at Company 3 the tool mounting was laid out and training for all the driver operators was initiated. Within a short period of about 2 weeks we had easily surpassed the Chief Officer's expectations for qualified driver's which includes a walk-around of the apparatus and pump evolutions to ensure our people had the proper knowledge for operating this piece of equipment. As soon as SQ-3 returned from tool mounting, E-32 was shipped up the road for its tool mounting. I can't say enough about First Due Apparatus Solutions, it really is a true benefit for us to have them in our local area and if you get a chance please check their Facebook page out and check some of the apparatus they have worked on. Following tool mounting it was just ensuring that a few of the Gremlins or bugs were taken care of by Atlantic/Pierce before we placed it in service. Here are a list of features on the new E-32:

- Short wheel base of only 174"
- Detroit Diesel DD13 500HP/1650FT-LBS
- Allison 4000EVS with Aggressive Jake Brake
- 12v Scene Lighting all the way around
- Seats 5 Firefighters and is equipped with 2 jumpseats
- 1500 Hale GPM Pump with Detroit Fire Commander II Pump Governor
- 720 Gallon Tank
- 45" Wide Pump Panel
- 6 Pre-Connected Handlines (1 front, 2 crosslay, 3 rear)
- Broom Compartments
- Rear Intake
- Blow Hard Fan (Battery/Electric)
- Holmatro Duo Pump with Combi-Tool and "O" Cutter for vehicle extrication.

A special thanks goes out to all those involved in helping to get the apparatus together and in service which is a significantly long list.
