Annual Installation Of Officer 2015/2016

By Public Information Officer Douglas Medley
November 14, 2015

It was a Saturday night in downtown Lexington Park and all the members of both stations gathered at our social hall for our annual installation of officers for the coming year.

Everyone looked sharp dressed in their class A uniforms along with their spouses and dates who looked wonderful. We started off with our President Wayne Johnson welcoming everyone and then announcing that it was time for dinner prepared by our favorite Rita “B” catering service.

After a great meal of stuffed ham, crab imperial, oysters, roast beef and all the other trimmings it was time to get down to introducing our guests which I attempted to do trying not to make any mistakes. After that it was time to have our new officers sworn in by Mike Davis, 1st Vice President of the Maryland State Firemen’s Association who did the Executive officers and George Hayden, President of the Southern Maryland Firemen’s Association did the Line officers. After these men were sworn in the lovely Donna DeMarr, President of the Ladies of the Southern Maryland Firemen’s Association did our Associate Officers.

After we were finished with all these formalities it was time for our Fire Chief Joe Gould and our President Wayne Johnson to pass out the department awards to the deserving members. I can’t remember who got what but the fireman of the year for station 3 was 1st. Vice President Richard Sullivan, Sr. and for station 9 it was firefighter Matthew Callaway. I guess I will have to wait till next year again. Cheers to these well deserving guys.

So after all that it was time for some partying so our Chaplain Keith Fairfax gave the benediction and let the music begin.
During the course of the social hour our webmaster Jason Adams had his video running on all our big screen t.v.’s and it is always a treat to see some of the pictures that he comes up with. This Life Member drives all the way from North Carolina to be with us every year. We love this guy who maintains our website all year long.

Got to give a big shout out for a job well done to the installation committee for another great affair. Bob Braddock (Chairman), Wayne Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Christy Bixby, Jamie Olson, Rick Corcoran, Becki Hysell.

Now for a lot of photos by our sometime photographer and full time treasure Bruce Theden.
Enjoy..
