E-32 Week 5, SQ-3 Week 10 Progress Report for 11/14/14
By Committee Chairmen Steve Stockwell
November 14, 2014
E-32 is still getting the initial wiring and ready for placement on the rolling engine/chassis. The body is in the same spot getting some handrails installed and the compartments look painted with Zolotone splatter paint. The body should be installed around the same time the cab will be and you should see an update following our Mid-Inspection Trip.
SQ-3 has made strides in just a few weeks with nearly all the interior, compartment doors, pump panel (for the small booster pump) and shelving being installed. The generator and light tower have been installed along with the dual roof hatches. More pictures to come following our trip out and please read the bottom notes for additional details.
Units:
E-32 and SQ-3

E-32
E-32 with the Hale Pump with the large lower intake and auxiliary intake and the two 2 1/2" discharges above.
E-32, The rear discharges are on the outter edges of the pump house. The tank fill is the small valve on the inner topside of the pump. The rear intake is the large pipe in the center and the Tank-To-Pump is just below it, identified by the butterfly valve. Although it looks really complicated its very similar to a house with a well, pump, kitchen and bathroom sink with faucets.
E-32 Officer's side Pump Panel.
E-32 Body with Zolotone Paint installed in all of the compartments.
E-32, The hosebed should be about shoulder height with the 720 Gallon Tank. Notice the Handrails installed.
E-32
SQ-3, with all the compartment doors, rubrails, scene and rest of the emergency lights installed.
SQ-3, Compartment L1
SQ-3 L2, with small pump panel. This again was something Mechanicsville and Pierce worked on and we modified it slightly and made just a hair smaller. Notice the Breaker Boxes and the Yellow Light Tower Controller.
SQ-3 Pump Panel, fitted with a UPF 200 Gallon Tank the pump panel will facilitate use of the discharges/intakes. Although all the main valves are operated by air we added a redundancy to allow for failure with back up manual intake and discharge valves. A Class 1 TPS Governor was installed not only for protection of the pump (from overheating/damage, the older Series 60 Engines provided that protection the DD13 does not) along with monitoring from a single location all the different areas of operation and uniformity with our other apparatus.
SQ-3 Compartment L3 with Cascade Unit installed and fitted with 4- 6000psi bottles.
SQ-3 Compartment L4 and L5
SQ-3 Compartment L6 with shelving and electric plugs being installed.
SQ-3, The drop down compartments in the rear house the electric cordreels, 200ft of 10/4 wire.
SQ-3 with SCBA brackets installed. These brackets are a much less complicated device and still complies with NPFA standards in which we do our best to abide by.
SQ-3, The panel across from the seat is Line-X'd to provide protection on the walls from all those kicking feet in the back.
SQ-3, The roof houses the Harrison 25kw Generator (I'm pretty sure but trying to go off memory) and the Wilburt Light Tower that has 6- 1500W Lights which provide additional scene lighting at night.
SQ-3, We added two roof hatches to provide for ventilation and they double as emergency escape hatches, partly due to the crew of 5 in the rear.
SQ-3, Compartment R6
SQ-3 Compartment R3 and R2 which I think they forgot about compartments R4 and R5.
