Squad-3 and Engine-32 Update

September 12, 2014

Since my last report we (the committees) have been moving along. The committee has received the final drawings for our new 2014 Pierce Heavy Rescue and construction should have started this week on the Cab and Chassis. Once those pictures are available from Pierce I will continue to provide updates on how construction goes. Currently the Squad Committee is waiting on Labeling and Striping Drawings from Pierce which will show the unit updated and in color with a representation of what the unit will look like as a finalized version.

The Engine Committee is also awaiting the same with completed and finalized drawings coming in last week. We completed the Pre-Engineering Conference here at Co. 3's Quarters due to availability and once that was completed we went through the process of forwarding and replying emails/drawings to ensure the unit matches specifically what we requested and purchased. The packet as a matter of fact was turned in so early and fast, which is a testament to the committee that it shortened the delivery date.

The next step is to go out to Pierce for Mid-Inspection (for both units, different times obviously) which would entail the Body being installed on the completed chassis (for both units) and ensuring that all the departments specifications are met with the scrutiny of the committee to make sure our needs are met by the quality of Pierce Construction Facilities. The Squad will be constructed into two parts the Chassis and Cab at their main Appleton Facility and then shipped to their Truck Facility located a few miles away, where both the Cab/Chassis will be mated together with the Body. The Engine will be constructed at their main Appleton facility.

Due dates look like sometime in the November timeframe but as the process proceeds there is usually give and take for when the units will be completed and shipped to the AES Shop for further fixes and some equipment installation. As we get closer to the completed trucks those should allow for more specific dates so please stay tuned.

Units: SQ-3 and E-32
